​Vestibular Rehab Certification: VPT-C

Our vestibular rehab certification ensures that therapists using the designated initials VPT-C (VOT-C for occupational therapists) have demonstrated knowledge of vestibular rehab anatomy, pathophysiology, differential diagnosis, and are able to competently perform skills in assessment and treatment of BPPV, peripheral vestibular dysfunction, central vestibular dysfunction, and cervicogenic dizziness.

$795 Hybrid Course - 22 contact hours for PT / PTA / OT

​Differential diagnosis in dizziness is key to effective treatment. The online portion of this hybrid course will provide the clinician with the foundational knowledge to improve understanding of vestibular function and the effects of vestibular dysfunction in patients presenting with dizziness, imbalance, and falls. The live weekend course focuses on training and refining clinical skills in assessment and treatment, differential diagnosis through large and small group activities, review of nystagmus videos, treatment progression labs, and case study analysis. This course will prepare the clinician through education and practice, to perform an efficient examination and develop an effective, evidence-based treatment plan for patients with dizziness. Approved for 22 contact hours for PT and OT, NY APTA 24 contact hours.

Requirements for Certification:

  1. Online coursework:

    • Completion of 8 hours of online asynchronous coursework, laying the foundation for clinical practice.

    • Pass all quizzes with 70% or greater to demonstrate proficiency.

    • Correctly identify nystagmus in videos presented online.

  2. Weekend competency course:

    • Attend the 2-day weekend course ​

    • Demonstrate competency in diagnostic and treatment procedures via skills check with course instructors

Fundamentals of Vestibular Rehab​

$395 Hybrid course - 10 contact hours PT / PTA / OT

This course offers an introduction to vestibular rehab to include anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of central and peripheral origin. Differential diagnosis tests and measures will be applied to differentiate central and peripheral origin of dizziness. A significant portion of the course will be in lab-based experience with assessment and treatment techniques for differential diagnosis, BPPV and vestibular hypofunction, and application of vestibular rehab treatment techniques for dizziness of central and cervicogenic origin will be introduced. Specific emphasis will be placed on understanding of peripheral and central causes of dizziness, including benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), vestibular hypofunction, stroke, neurodegenerative diseases, and multisensory dizziness. Principles of assessment and differential diagnosis will improve the clinician’s efficiency in examination and translation of exam findings into the development of an effective, evidence-based treatment plan.

Current Concepts in Concussion Management: A Strategic Approach to Rehab

$795 Hybrid Course - 24 contact hours PT/OT

This course is designed to enhance the clinician’s knowledge and understanding of concussion management in a way that they will be able to incorporate the evidence-based concepts and techniques into their clinical practice. Some features of this course include instructor feedback on assessment and treatment techniques, large and small group activities to demonstrate application of the principles of diagnosis and clinical application of concepts to real patient cases, and psychomotor skill development through labs with instructor feedback. Clinicians will walk away from this course series with a deeper understanding of the multi-disciplinary approach to concussion management, the technical skills to perform a thorough examination, and a plan in place for evaluation and progression of treatment for patients presenting to the clinic post-concussion.​
